One of the easiest things to do when entering college is to slack off and not do any school work. As a result of this you can fail a bunch of classes. College is a lot more different than High School because in college, you have all the freedom in the world. Most students who go to college do not live with their parents and it is way too easy to slack off as a result. If students do fail their classes, they are ultimately wasting their time and money. If you are deciding to join a club or greek life, then your time is extremely limited. This can make it more difficult to focus on classes to the best of your ability. When joining greek life (especially first semester when you are still adjusting to college), it is important to consider if you will be able to juggle being apart of a sorority or fraternity and school work without being completely overwhelmed. Extra circulars, like greek life, require a large time commitment and can make it incredibly hard to focus on doing your school work to your best ability, so you always want to remember the main reason that you are there, school. Some advice that we have is to wake up early the morning and have a strict routine. This routine has to involve going to the library everyday. It is really important to go to the library everyday because it is the perfect place to focus and get work done and also get out of your dorm! Having a routine is KEY. The best tip we have for you is to create a list each week (or day) that you can look at to keep you on track with the tasks that you have to complete (laundry, class assignments, studying, etc). Checking things off this list will help keep you motivated as well as focused on what you need to be doing to be successful at school! If you can stay motivated, stay organized and stay positive you should have very little trouble your freshman year!
