From your favorite pair of shoes to what kind of bedding you should bring... We got you covered!

As summer is coming to a close and you are just weeks away from embarking on your first year at college, you are faced with the question: What the heck do I bring?
“One thing we could not live without freshmen year was a hot water kettle. You can use it to make literally ANYTHING!!"
Here are some key tips on what/how to pack:
1. Consider the climate of the school you are going to. Depending on what the weather might be when you get there to what it will be a few months after that, you want to plan accordingly.
2. Don't over pack!! Compared to your closet at home, the dorms give you very little space to keep your clothing. To maximize your space in your room invest in bed risers! Amazon has them for only $9 and it will make a huge difference.
-Pack strategically! It is incredibly tough to pack months worth of clothing into suitcases that have to weigh a certain amount, so make sure to pack only what you will and can't live without. Two of us also flew to school, which made it tricker to pack absolutely everything we wanted to.
If you plan on driving we suggest:
-Keep your hanging clothes on there hangers and pack them in garment bags! This will keep it super easy for when you're unpacking, open the bags, hang the clothes and boom, You're done!
-Keep your folded clothing organized and exactly how you plan on placing it in your drawers.
-If you plan on buying stuff from Bed Bath and Beyond we suggest that you pre-order it at a store close to your campus, or even buying some stuff in your hometown because BBB tends to run out of things quick! Fit as much in the car as you possibly can, trust us!
-Only bring the essentials!! Even though you are driving and may have lots of space in the car, make sure to NOT over pack! You will realize once you get there how little room you actually have.
If you plan on flying we suggest:
-Pack strategically! It is incredibely tough to pack months worth of clothing into suitcases that have to weigh a certain amount, so make sure to pack only what you will need.
-If you can, we also suggest shipping stuff to school before you get there so you don't have to pack everything in suitcases.
-Make sure you fly in early leaving yourself ample time to get what you need before move in.
-Try not to fly or ship things that you can buy at a store near school. Odds are whatever you are buying at the Target in your home town, they probably have at the Target near school!
3.A way to keep organized is by creating a packing/ move in list. By doing this you will ensure that you do not forget anything, and things that you are missing you will make sure to find! Packing lists are KEY!!
4.Take advantage of the Bed Bath and Beyond college pack and hold service. You fill out a form of all of the things you need and they have it all packed up and ready to go once you get there! It will save you so much time and it is one less thing you'll have to do. We also suggest going to stores such as: Target, Walmart, HomeGoods, and even Amazon! These stores will also have everything you might need and are great places to look for cheap decor. You want to make sure new home as cozy as possible!
