Staying Safe at School

College is going to be the best four years of your life, but it is super important that you stay safe and make smart decisions as a student.

For the next four years you are going to be in control of everything with no parents there to monitor you. In your first year of college you will grow into the most independent version of yourself, and it is incredibly important that you stay safe and make good decisions.

Below are a few ways on how to keep yourself and others safe while at school:

1. Don't give in to peer pressure.

-Many campuses offer ample amount of safety precautions that every student should be aware of and take advantage of. Most campuses have: Blue Light emergency telephone Stations, campus police, campus health services, poison and drug information hotlines and many other resources that students can take advantage of.

2.Buddy system

-If you choose to go out to a party or whatever it may be, make sure that you are always with 1 or 2 people that you are friends with. You never want to be alone and by implementing and using the buddy system you can hopefully avoid that.

3.Be aware

-Many campuses offer ample amount of saftey precoations that every student should be aware of and take advantage of. Most campuses have: Blue Light emergency telephone Stations, campus police, campus health services, poison and drug information hotlines and many other resources that students can take advantage of.

-If you decide to drink at a party, make sure that you are only drinking from something that you poured yourself or from an un-open container. Also it is super important to never leave your drink unattended as you never know what someone could have slipped in it.

4.Don't be afraid to speak up

-If you see that someone has had too much to drink and needs medical attention, don't be afraid to speak up and get help. You always want to be safe not sorry and don't want to wait until it is to late.
